2nd Annual Buried Treasure: What Do Claims Data Tell Us About Our OB/GYN Care?
3/5/2010

On April 13, 2010, PHLIP will host the 2nd Annual Buried Treasure: What Do Claims Data Tell Us About Our OB/GYN Care?, the second of our annual Buried Treasure workshops for PHLIP members only, which take an in-depth look at PHLIP claims data.

This year’s workshop is an excellent opportunity for PHLIP members to learn how to improve OB/GYN care based on analysis of PHLIP claims data by CRICO/RMFS staff. Specifically, the workshop will focus on detailed analysis of alleged shortcomings in medical treatment or a primary responsible service related to OB/GYN.

Additionally, CRICO/RMF Strategies staff will present a new set of “Human Factors” codes, and will discuss and illustrate the behavioral, contextual, and conceptual characteristics that contribute to medical errors. Participants will:

  • Examine the detailed findings, analysis, and recommendations from the in-depth study conducted by CRICO/RMFS of PHLIP cases alleging shortcomings in medical treatment or responsible services related to Obstetrics and/or Gynecology.
  • Learn how new Human Factors codes can help risk managers and physician risk officers in minimizing medical errors.
Dana Bissett-Siegal, CPHRM, RN, program director of risk management services, CRICO/RMF Strategies, will lead the sessions on What Do Claims Data Tell Us About Our OB/GYN Care? and Human Factors Coding.

This free PHLIP member-only workshop will be of most interest to CEOs, CFOs, COOs, chief risk officers and risk managers, VPMAs and chiefs of medical staff, directors of nursing, in-house counsel, chief information officers, quality/PI managers, and physician risk officers. We recommend that each PHLIP member send a team of individuals.
